Best Baja Surf Spots!Surfers love to Surf Baja, a long held, seriously fun tradition. Many surfer’s have been coming to Baja Norte for more than 30 years. Surfing this coast has everything you could ask for – “drive to” close, a relaxed culture, friendly people, great, cheap tacos and lots of cold beer or cerveza. Check your problems at the border, grab your surfboard and your friends and surf! Did I mention the Margaritas? It's not all about the waves on this side of the border. Baja Norte has great surfing year round. The south or southwest swells are the best but the west and northwest have some advantages as they can be bigger. You will find surfing on this coast similar to the conditions Southern California.Winter - swells during the winter period typically come from the west to northwest and have the added advantage of being fairly consistent. The months of October to May when the water temperature ranges 50 and 60 degrees, it is best to wear a full suit and booties. For those looking for something extra, there is one of the best locations in the world just west of Ensenada, located at the Islas de Todos Santos. Its nickname is “El Martillo” (The Hammer). It is rated up there with Hawaii and the Mavericks in California. It is not uncommon to see 10—12 foot waves at El Martillo. Grab your board and head down to surf this beautiful spot! Summer - offers great Baja surfing with spring suit to trunk conditions. Water temperatures range from high 60's to mid 70's. Swells during this time period typically range from south to southwest.
